About The Healthy Home Guide
The Healthy Home Guide helps homeowners and renters in the US and UK deal with the problems that quietly affect their family’s health at home — pests, mold, damp and indoor air.
Most advice online about termites, cockroaches or “toxic black mold” is either written to sell a service or rewritten from other blogs. We started this site to do it differently: clear, honest guides that explain what the problem is, how serious it really is, what you can safely do yourself, and when it’s worth paying a professional.
Our mission
- Practical first. Every guide ends with steps you can take today.
- Honest about risk. We don’t use scare tactics to sell products or services. If something is low-risk, we say so.
- Checked against trusted sources. Health and safety information is checked against public health and scientific bodies such as the CDC, EPA, NHS, WHO and university extension programs, and we link to them.
- Kept current. Every article shows when it was last updated, and we review cost and product guides at least once a year.
Meet the founder
Muhammad Umair is the founder and editor of The Healthy Home Guide. He works in the pest management industry, collaborating with pest control businesses on termite and general pest control programs, and is building his own pest management company. That day-to-day contact with real infestations — what homeowners notice first, what fails and what actually works — shapes every guide on this site.
A note on expertise
Muhammad is not a medical doctor. Health information on this site is general education, checked against public health sources, and is never a substitute for advice from your own doctor. Where pesticide use is discussed, always follow the product label and local regulations.
What we cover
- Pest Control — termites, cockroaches, bed bugs, rodents, ants, mosquitoes and ticks.
- Mold & Moisture — health risks, removal, humidity, dehumidifiers and water damage.
- Coming soon: indoor air quality, water quality and safer cleaning.
How we make money
The Healthy Home Guide is free to read. We earn money from display advertising (such as Google AdSense) and, on some guides, affiliate links — if you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Advertisers and affiliate partners never decide what we write or recommend. Read our Affiliate Disclosure and Editorial Policy.
