Editorial Policy

Our readers make decisions about their health, their homes and their money based on what we publish. This page explains how we make sure our guides deserve that trust.

How we choose topics

We write about the questions homeowners and renters actually ask about pests, mold, moisture and indoor health — guided by reader emails, real-world pest management experience and search data. We prioritize topics where clear, practical information can prevent harm or save money.

How we research and write

  • Every guide is written or reviewed by Muhammad Umair, our founder, who works in the pest management industry.
  • Health and safety claims are checked against primary or authoritative sources: the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Institutes of Health (NIH/NIEHS), the UK National Health Service (NHS), the World Health Organization (WHO), and university extension programs such as the University of California IPM program and the University of Kentucky Entomology department.
  • Cost figures are drawn from published industry pricing guides and labeled as typical ranges, not quotes, with the year shown.
  • Product information is based on active ingredients, labels and published research. When we have not tested a product ourselves, we say so.
  • We may use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help with outlines and drafts. Every published article is fact-checked, edited and approved by a human editor, who is responsible for its accuracy.

Sources and citations

Most guides end with a Sources section linking to the references used for key facts. We prefer government, academic and professional sources over other blogs.

Medical and safety content

We are not a medical provider. Health-related guides include a note on when to see a doctor, and we avoid diagnosing conditions or recommending treatments that require medical supervision. See our Medical & Safety Disclaimer.

Updates

Every article shows a “last updated” date. We review cost guides and product roundups at least once a year and update any guide promptly when guidance changes or a reader reports an error.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email info@thehealthyhomeguide.com with the page link. Significant corrections are made promptly and noted where appropriate.

Independence, advertising and affiliate links

We earn money from display ads and some affiliate links. Advertisers and affiliate partners do not review, approve or influence our content, and we don’t accept payment for positive coverage. Affiliate links are disclosed at the top of the relevant guides. Read our Affiliate Disclosure.
